LUMACHROMA is an ongoing series exploring the many states of being a woman through vivid colour, fragmented forms and expressive gestures.
Rather than relying on conventional portraiture, Koromvokis constructs her figures through intersecting colour passages, transparent layers and shifting tonal relationships. The human form may remain recognisable or partially dissolve into its surroundings, allowing emotion and presence to emerge through colour itself.
Each painting captures a distinct state of being — from vulnerability and introspection to confidence, sensuality and playful freedom.
First Response
First Response explores how human presence and emotional expression can emerge from an almost entirely abstract composition. Soft fragments of blue, pink and white are distributed across the canvas, while a few suggestive marks evoke eyes and lips without defining them. Their placement creates an elusive expression and a gaze that appears to follow the viewer, allowing emotion to be perceived without detailed figurative representation.

Alpha Girl
In Alpha Girl, a softly modelled blue face emerges through bold contrasts of indigo, crimson and pink. Expressive brushstrokes extend beyond the figure into the surrounding space, creating a dynamic composition in which the quiet, introspective expression contrasts with the intensity of colour and movement.

Visible Facets
In Visible Facets, the face is constructed through intersecting strokes of colour rather than defined contours. Layers of blue, white and warm orange create a fragmented yet cohesive image, revealing different facets of expression through the interplay of light, movement and form.

STILL
Still captures a woman who has weathered life’s storms without losing herself. Beneath her composed exterior lies an intensity that refuses to disappear. Bold, intersecting colours give this inner tension a visible presence.

IMPRESSION
Impression captures a woman transformed by the feeling of falling in love. Her emotions become so powerful that her individual features seem to dissolve, leaving the feeling itself to take their place. Through delicate layers of turquoise, pink and peach, the face becomes almost abstract — as if love has made her beauty something beyond physical appearance.

Everything
EVERYTHING
“What do you want from me?” — “Everything.”
Everything explores a woman’s desire for absolute intimacy and mutual belonging. Her face dissolves into fragments of colour, becoming almost omnipresent — as if her presence extends beyond the boundaries of the painting.

NOON
NOON
Acrylic on canvas | 70 × 70 cm |
In Noon, vibrant contrasts of orange, coral, turquoise and lilac construct a face through chromatic shadows and fragmented brushwork. Selectively defined features, closed eyes and luminous colour transitions create a sense of sensuality and inner stillness, while sweeping strokes blur the boundaries between the face and surrounding space, giving the image an impression of weightlessness and movement through light.
