Blue Response (Ongoing)
Artist Statement
Painting as moving presence.
Light and colour form the language; everything else happens in between.
Blue Response Series
When presence changes in connection.
Blue Response is a series by Natalia Koromvokis created through a cool colour spectrum. For the artist, this cool range is connected to a contemporary vision of painting — a way to express presence, feeling, and perception in the present time.
Warm tones are not introduced directly. Emotional charge appears through cold pigments, light, contrast, and relation.
Faces and figures emerge through colour, light, and emotional response. The cool palette is not used as reduction, but as a contemporary painterly language.
Some works are minimal and concentrated; others are more chromatically active. What connects them is the same principle: colour becomes a carrier of feeling, and presence appears through it.
Works from the Blue Response series — Neon, Early Morning, and Gravity — are currently on view at Energy Athens 2026, presented by The European Centre Athens in collaboration with The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
InterFaded (Early Phase)
InterFaded is a closed series developed through extended work within a warm palette of amber, red, and earth-based tones. It explores accumulated emotional states and painterly depth formed over time. Figures appear as traces of movement within fields of colour; light behaves like temperature — expanding, holding tension in the space between forms.
Key works from this series, including Amber Bird and Secret File, have received international recognition through juried selections including the Manifest semi-final, Cincinnati, USA, and publication in Monochromic issue 007.
InterFaded
InterFaded (Closed) is a long-duration, layered series developed through extended periods of work within a classically rooted warm palette of amber, red, and earth-based tones. It explores accumulated emotional states and painterly depth formed over time.
Key works from this series, including Amber Bird and Secret File, have received international recognition and have been presented through juried selections, including the Manifest semi-final, and catalogues, including issue 007 of Monochromic. The series forms the artist’s established authorial foundation.
