In her oil paintings, Natalia Koromvokis explores the emergence of figures and faces through layered colour, translucent passages and shifting light.

Forms develop without fixed contours, gradually appearing through the interaction of pigment, depth and surrounding space.

Stillness

Stillness explores the interaction between a dissolving blue field and a dynamic movement of light. Through translucent layers and softened contours, the figure gradually emerges from its surroundings, creating a delicate balance between movement and stillness.

Magnetic Blue

In Magnetic Blue, subtle shifts of tone and light allow the figure to emerge from a monochromatic blue field without defined contours. The image is shaped by atmosphere as much as form, seeking an immediate emotional resonance with the viewer.

Blue Angel

In Blue Angel, the body dissolves into a fluid blue field, leaving the face as the primary point of recognition. Light and subtle tonal transitions replace defined contours, creating an almost weightless image while preserving a sense of emotional presence.

Inner Neon

In Inner Neon, softly emerging facial features contrast with crystalline, light-catching strokes that transform the surrounding blue atmosphere. By deliberately leaving contours undefined, Koromvokis shifts the focus from physical likeness to the emotional resonance created through light, colour and texture

Light is created through colour structure rather than reflective media.

Euphoria

In Euphoria, the human figure is immersed in an expansive field of blue-green tones. Luminous colour transitions and sweeping, directional brushstrokes dissolve the boundaries between body and space, creating a sense of movement, weightlessness and emotional release.

Escape

In Escape, the face emerges from sweeping layers of blue, partially obscured by fragmented, olive-toned brushstrokes. A vivid passage of coral and orange interrupts the surrounding colour field, creating a tension between outward movement and inward withdrawal.
